Job description

Job Overview

The Application Engineer - Systems supports the Systems Sales Group by leveraging technical expertise and product knowledge to develop solution architectures, bills of materials, project estimates, and professional proposals. This role collaborates with Systems Engineering, Integration Engineering, Computer System Validation Engineering, and Lifecycle Field Services teams to define project scope, develop estimates, and deliver solutions that align with customer requirements and business objectives. The position also serves as an internal resource for business systems, sales support tools, and pricing information while building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

This role is based at Proconex's headquarters in Royersford, Pennsylvania, with a hybrid work schedule that includes an expectation of working onsite three days per week. Occasional travel to customer facilities is required to support site walkdowns, product demonstrations, project evaluations, and other customer-facing activities.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Sales Support

  • Serve as a technical advisor to the Systems Sales Group, providing expertise in product knowledge, solution architectures, and bills of materials.
  • Develop technical solutions that align with customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Support customer site walkdowns, product demonstrations, and other field-based activities as needed.

Proposal Development & Estimating

  • Develop and review professional proposals that clearly define the proposed scope of work and supply.
  • Create accurate proposal pricing spreadsheets and GP sheets, including sell prices and costs for proposed solutions.
  • Partner with Systems Engineering, Integration Engineering, Computer System Validation Engineering, and Lifecycle Field Services teams to develop estimates and scope definitions.

Business Systems & Sales Enablement

  • Maintain and update internal business systems used to support sales activities.
  • Extract and analyze data to support proposal development and business decision-making.
  • Develop and enhance sales support tools.
  • Maintain current pricing and other dynamic business information for the sales team.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal resources, customers, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate across functional teams to support proposal accuracy and project success.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline, Technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience reading, understanding, and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and other technical documentation.
  • 1+ years of experience producing written communications in a professional or technical environment.
  • 1+ years of experience performing work requiring a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • 1+ years of experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • 1+ years of experience learning and applying technical systems, products, or technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical industrial experience in an engineering capacity.
  • Familiarity with DeltaV, Windows Server, Network Switches, ROC, ControlWave PAC, SCADA, Emerson AMS, PLCs, Syncade MES, AVEVA PI, AspenTech, AI, ML, Data Lakes, Operational Intelligence, Hardware and Software Systems, and Cybersecurity.
  • Broad engineering exposure to hardware design, software configuration, regulatory control systems, batch control systems, and installation activities.
  • Experience supporting customer site walkdowns, product demonstrations, or field activities.
  • Experience working within life sciences, energy, oil and gas, wastewater, specialty gas, chemical, or other industrial process industries.
