We are seeking an Automation Engineer to work across our DevOps teams, building broad expertise in infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and platform support. You will have a designated team home but will routinely participate in cross-team projects, training, and knowledge sharing, gaining hands-on exposure to a diverse set of tooling and environments spanning both cloud (GitLab, AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, Docker) and on-premises (Jenkins, OpenShift, Ansible) contexts.

Education: Bachelors degree in computer science or Equivalent
Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
Clearance: Must hold Active DoD/D Secret Clearance or higher

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and support CI/CD pipelines and automation in both cloud (GitLab, AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, Docker) and on-premises (Jenkins, OpenShift, Ansible) contexts
  • Participate in infrastructure provisioning and application deployment automation across both environments
  • Troubleshoot, document, and continuously improve deployment, monitoring, and security automation for all platforms
  • Engage with both the cloud and on-premises teams, proactively learning primary and secondary stacks through onboarding, peer programming, and joint solutioning
  • Share learnings and best practices across the DevOps organization to reduce silos and accelerate overall capability

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to attain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in a DevOps, automation, or infrastructure engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance using GitLab CI and/or Jenkins
  • Experience with infrastructure provisioning and automation using Terraform and/or Ansible
  • Experience with containerization and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS
  • Experience with AWS cloud services for application deployment and infrastructure automation
  • Familiarity with OpenShift for on-premises container platform support
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and/or Bash for automation and infrastructure tooling
  • Experience with Git / GitLab version control workflows in an agile development environment
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tooling in cloud and on-premises environments (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, AWS CloudWatch, or equivalent)
  • Experience with agile project tracking tools such as Jira
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across deployment, monitoring, and security automation
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams, proactively share knowledge, and operate in a fast-paced cross-functional environment
  • Must be able to work in the Washington, DC area and work in person at least once per week

Optional Certifications

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or equivalent cloud certification
  • Red Hat OpenShift certification or equivalent
