Job Description
The Instrumentation & Control Panel Technician operates and maintains systems such as HVAC systems, boiler plant systems, water and wastewater systems, building automation systems, electrical substations control systems, emergency power systems (generators and automatic transfer stations) at the CMI customer site in Beltsville, MD.
Key Job Functions
  • Mount components, route wires neatly, and assemble industrial control panels and enclosures according to engineering schematics.
  • Test instruments, meters, and gauges (pressure, temperature, flow, level) to ensure high-accuracy performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialized software.
  • Install, repair, and maintain hardware and software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and SCADA networks.
  • Modify and update electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and testing logs to reflect system changes
  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; an Associate's Degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related trade is highly preferred
  • Must have knowledge of electrical control systems and be able to troubleshoot and repair control panels.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of systems' automatic/manual operations
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of all aspects of instrumentation and control systems operations and maintenance
  • Systems to be operated/maintained include but are not limited to HVAC systems, boiler plant systems, water and wastewater systems, building automation systems, electrical substations control systems, emergency power systems (generators and automatic transfer stations)
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy components (50-100 lbs), climb, and work in varying industrial or outdoor environments.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Must be able to pass a government background check
