Job description

SUMMARY

The Set-Up Technician Class B is responsible for assisting in the setup, adjustment, and basic troubleshooting of production machinery used in the manufacturing of automotive parts. This role supports Class A technicians and operators by preparing equipment for production runs, performing minor maintenance, and ensuring machines are operating safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with machine setups and changeovers under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Perform basic adjustments and calibrations to ensure proper machine operation.
  • Prepare tools, dies, and fixtures for upcoming production runs.
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic quality checks during setup.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and follow 5S principles.
  • Document setup activities and report any issues to supervisors.
  • Support preventive maintenance tasks as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools.
  • Works well under direction and supports senior technicians.
  • Follows setup instructions and ensures accuracy.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and PPE requirements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED (required).

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and measuring instruments.
