How much does an automation tester make?

An automation tester's salary varies based on experience, location, and industry, but typically ranges from $60,000 to $110,000 annually in many regions. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced testers with skills in tools like Selenium or QTP can earn higher salaries, especially with certifications and advanced expertise.

Are QA testers in demand in 2026?

QA testers, including those specializing in automated testing, are expected to remain in demand in 2026 due to ongoing software development and the need for quality assurance. Skills in automation tools like Selenium, programming languages, and continuous integration are increasingly valuable in this field.

How can I become an automation tester?

To become an automation tester, you should gain knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, or C#, and learn testing tools like Selenium, TestComplete, or QTP. A background in software development or quality assurance, along with understanding testing frameworks and scripting, is essential. Earning certifications like ISTQB or Certified Software Tester can also enhance your qualifications.

Will automation testers be replaced by AI?

Automation testers use tools and scripts to evaluate software quality, and AI can assist in automating repetitive testing tasks. However, human oversight is still essential for designing test cases, interpreting results, and handling complex scenarios, so complete replacement by AI is unlikely in the near future.
