Job Overview

Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex features and projects within an AI‑native engineering workflow powering the Hyperlift Stars Platform. You will set technical direction, provide architectural guidance and ensure AI tools are applied to improve reliability, efficiency, and user value across the lifecycle of modern data‑intensive software systems.

Responsibilities
  • Design Software Applications: Lead systems analysis, architectural design, and technology selection for complex features and core platform components. Work with Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, and engineering leadership to architect scalable data services and pipelines. Design database schemas (PostgreSQL), backend microservices, and APIs for the Hyperlift Stars Platform. Set expectations for AI‑native engineering practices, define test strategies, ensure compliance with best practices, and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and Implement Software Applications: Implement backend services and APIs in Python, Elixir, or Golang following design specifications and internal development standards. Lead development efforts, provide technical direction to ensure high code quality and maintainability, and guide the team on AI usage without compromising system trust. Produce supporting documentation, design artifacts, and architectural decision records. Refactor code for performance, clarity, and testability, prepare features for production release, and lead peer code reviews.
  • Support Software Applications: Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues surfaced through observability systems, user reports, or automated monitoring. Diagnose issues in distributed event‑driven systems and microservices architectures. Contribute to installation, deployment, and developer documentation. Participate in the full software lifecycle from ideation to long‑term maintenance and support, working within an Agile development process focused on iterative value delivery.
Technical Skills
  • Strong design and architectural skills with experience owning complex systems.
  • Expertise in Python; experience in Elixir or Golang a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
  • Experience building and optimizing REST APIs and working with event‑driven architecture.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, query performance tuning, and systems design.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS).
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and DevOps practices (e.g., GitLab pipelines, CI/CD).
  • Ability to debug and optimize backend performance using modern observability tools.
  • Experience with containerized applications and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Sound judgment on applying AI tools to improve reliability, efficiency, and development velocity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver scalable systems with minimal oversight.
  • Comfortable operating at a Senior Software Engineer level, including mentoring peers, leading system design discussions, and providing technical direction.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and an open mind for evaluating potential solutions.
  • Proven ability to balance technical excellence with pragmatic delivery under shifting priorities.
