Autodesk Administrator information

What does an Autodesk Administrator do?

An Autodesk Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Autodesk software within an organization. Their duties typically include installing, configuring, and updating Autodesk products, managing user licenses, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring compliance with licensing agreements. They also provide support and training to users, optimize software performance, and coordinate with Autodesk support for complex problems. This role is essential for organizations that rely on Autodesk tools for design, engineering, or architecture projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Autodesk Administrator, and why are they important?

To excel as an Autodesk Administrator, you need strong expertise in Autodesk software deployment, configuration, and user management, typically supported by experience in IT administration and relevant Autodesk certifications. Familiarity with tools such as Autodesk Account, Autodesk Licensing, and software deployment solutions like SCCM or Group Policy is crucial. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills help you efficiently support users and coordinate with project teams. These abilities ensure smooth software operations, maximize productivity, and minimize downtime in design and engineering environments.

What are some common challenges Autodesk Administrators face when managing software licenses across large organizations?

Autodesk Administrators often encounter challenges such as tracking and allocating licenses efficiently, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, and managing software updates across multiple teams. In large organizations, coordinating with IT and project managers to balance user needs with available licenses can be complex. Staying up-to-date with Autodesk's evolving licensing models and optimizing costs while minimizing downtime is also a key part of the role.

Many companies and organizations allow remote work for these roles, provided the candidate has the necessary technical skills and access to required tools and systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to support the successful implementation and optimization of Autodesk Fusion Manage for our clients/internal teams. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) principles, business processes, and the technical intricacies of Fusion Manage. This role will involve working closely with stakeholders to analyze requirements, configure the system, develop best practices, provide training, and ensure a seamless transition to the PLM environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients/internal teams to understand their current processes, identify pain points and opportunities for optimization, and translate business needs into technical requirements for a Fusion Manage configuration.
  • Configure and customize Autodesk Fusion Manage to align with client business processes, including data models, workflows, user roles, security settings, and integrations.
  • Develop comprehensive solutions, including data migration strategies, integration plans (e.g., with CAD, ERP, CRM systems), and reporting requirements.
  • Plan and execute data migration strategies from legacy systems into Fusion Manage, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for end-users and administrators, along with maintaining documentation for configurations and processes. Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Keep abreast of the latest Autodesk Fusion Manage updates, features, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Strong understanding of PLM concepts, best practices and integrations.
    • Experience with other PLM systems (e.g., Aras Innovator, PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter) is a plus.
    • Proven experience in business process analysis and re-engineering.
  • Technical Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of Autodesk Fusion Manage administration, configuration, and customization.
    • Experience with CAD software and Autodesk Vault with integration to Fusion Manage.
    • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) for automation and customization within Fusion Manage is a strong asset.
    • Experience with API integrations and web services.
    • Proficiency in data manipulation and migration tools.
    • Strong understanding of database concepts.
  • Other Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for non-technical audiences.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Autodesk Certified Professional certification in Fusion Manage or related products.
  • Experience in a consulting environment.
  • Experience with cloud-based software implementations.
