Job description

Martin Automotive Group is seeking a Body Shop Painter for our Dayton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Location. The Painter is responsible for refinishing vehicles as quickly as possible in a safe and timely manner, with a fit and finish that meets or exceeds the original factory fit and finish.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect every vehicle as it enters the paint shop from the metal department to ensure that it has passed all previous inspections and standards.
  • Communicate with Body Shop Manager of any hidden or missed damage that doesn't appear on the Work Order.
  • Be able to effectively utilize basic hand tools such as air sanders, air ratchet, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc.
  • Develop a system for holding all parts for any jobs assigned until parts are installed on the vehicle.
  • Prime repaired surfaces, using paint spray gun equipment as required.
  • Ensure adequate material is mixed for an entire paint job, and that it is clearly labeled and stocked for easy access when the vehicle enters the paint shop.
  • Review every job for color match prior to the vehicle entering the spray booth. Each mixing and matching process should include spraying out a test panel.
  • Conduct any buffing necessary to individual paint work.
  • Ensure that all spray operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the metal shop or detail shop for final assembly and get-ready.
  • Advise Body Shop Manager upon completion of a job or when nearing completion of a job, and request a new assignment.
  • Regular maintenance and cleanliness of paint booth and area.
  • Keep all areas neat and clean and be able to account for all dealership owned tools and equipment.
  • Complete all training as directed by supervisor.
  • Follow policies and procedures as set forth in Employee Handbook.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years prior experience as a painter
  • Must have applicable state or OSHA certifications, ICAR and ASE certifications required or be in process of obtaining.
  • Current valid drivers license.
