Summary:

Reporting to the Service Manager this role is hands-on and requires leadership abilities within the automotive repair shop. This individual is highly organized and is responsible for overseeing shop operations while also performing high-level repair, diagnostic, and maintenance work on vehicles. The role combines management duties, such as supervising a team of technicians, with expert level technical tasks, ensuring that the shop runs smoothly and customer vehicles are serviced efficiently and effectively, while providing guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicate promptly with your service manager regarding any issues in the shop to ensure they are addressed effectively and professionally.

  • Supervise and lead a team of automotive service technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed to the highest quality and safety standards.

  • Perform diagnostic assessments and repair vehicles as needed, determine if additional safety or service work is required through vehicle inspections

  • Assign tasks and work priorities to team members based on their skill levels and abilities, ensuring timely completion of service orders.

  • Ensure adherence to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.

  • Train, mentor, and provide guidance to junior technicians, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development.

  • Maintain accurate repair orders, documenting work completed, and ensure accurate reporting of vehicle status and issues.

  • Oversee the maintenance of shop equipment and tools, ensuring that they are in proper working order.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.


Continuous Learning & Improvement:

Ideal Requirements:

  • Automotive Technician Red Seal Certification

  • Valid Driver's License MANDATORY

  • 5+ years of experience in automotive service and repair, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across a wide range of vehicles.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced technicians.

  • Proficiency with shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair techniques.

  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and dealership policies.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
