Job Summary
Receive, inspect, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, parcels, and other merchandise. In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.
Essential Functions
Sort and distribute incoming mail, and sort, meter, and process outgoing bulk mail. Occasionally deliver mail directly to the United States Post Office. Prepare related postal expense for UPS and next day service reports.
Receive and unload incoming goods and merchandise and inspect for damage and distribute to proper departments. Process related purchasing and Accounts Payables paperwork.
Prepare, record, and maintain related courier service, mail, shipping and receiving, and gas consumption files and logs. Assist with report preparation. Respond to vendor, purchasing, and accounts payables queries.
Perform internal and external courier services, including hand delivering special communiqués, Board of Trustees Agendas, airline tickets, etc.
Provide routine and preventive maintenance checks on work equipment, including forklift, postage meters, etc.
Coordinate with Purchasing and Accounts Payable to quickly resolve purchase order problems.
Assist with inventory control.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Associate's Degree and one (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
NOTE: A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred. The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.
2. Must possess effective customer and telephone etiquette service.
3. Must possess effective organizational and multi-tasking skills.
4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Effective computer skills to include internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
6. Experience managing files and records.
7. Ability to use a personal computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment.
Special Conditions:
1. The El Paso Community College is building a pool of Applicants for part-time staff positions. This pool will be accessed when an opening arises. Your application will remain active for approximately one (1) year from July 2026 to June 2027. After this time, you will need to re-apply if you are still interested in remaining a part of the pool.
2. This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.
3. Operating a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position; all final position candidates will be required to undergo a motor vehicle records check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures. Thereafter, motor vehicle records checks will be conducted annually.
4. Must possess a valid driver's license.
5. Must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
