Job description

Position Title: Service Manager 

Reporting to: Branch Manager 

Department: Service 

Central Power Systems & Services is a privately held company with deep roots going back to 1954.Our Mission Statement isforging long-lasting partnerships by providing first-class customer support. We live that statement every single day. We are looking for a Service Manager to help support that mission. 

JOB SUMMARY  

The Service Manager is directly responsible for the management and/or supervision of the Service Department as it relates to the goals of your perspective branch and Branch Manager. 

RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Working with recruitment and HR to maintain staff levels that appropriately support customer demand 

  • Working directly with personnel to ensure proper job function performance  

  • Maintaining continuous personnel improvement processes that include cross training and management support 

  • Working with other department managers to encourage cross departmental workflow 

  • Maintaining and managing inventory levels that both enhance customer service and maintain corporate goals 

  • Assisting with policy and procedure enhancements to encourage an environment that promotes ease of business 

  • Hold weekly departmental meetings to address comments, questions and/or concerns as it relates to productivity of the department 

  • Regularly schedule time to spend in the market managing, maintaining and increasing customer relationships 

  • Regularly review the Monthly Operating Statement (M.O.S.) to measure: 

  • Departmental financial state (forecast vs. current) 

  • Areas for improvement 

  • Staffing levels 

  • Evaluating the market to determine appropriate means for gaining market share 

  • Other duties as assigned by Branch Manager

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Complete and maintain all factory certifications within 180 days of original date of hire.  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or technical education in Automotive, Diesel or related field preferred 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 

  • At least 2 years of experience in a heavy-duty diesel shop 

  • Strong mechanical knowledge and ability 

  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience 

WORK CONDITIONS 

Physical Demands/Work Environment: 

This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels.
