Job Duties
About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Equipment Repair Tech Auto in our Communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The job duties for this position include but are not limited to:
• Performing maintenance and repairs to fleet vehicles including but not limited to state inspections, oil changes, brake service, tire installation, and automotive detailing.
• Removing emergency lighting, communication, and other electronic equipment from VSP vehicles.
• Ensuring quality control of emergency lighting and communication equipment installations, calibrations of AWD fleet vehicles.
• Towing wrecked or disabled vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
• 12-volt systems.
• Diagnosing, repairing, and servicing motor vehicles.
Skills in:
• Diagnosing, repairing, and servicing equipment.
Ability to:
• Utilize computer programs and applications for diagnostics and repairs.
• Safely use woodworking and mechanics hand tools.
• Operate a rollback type car carrier.
• Read and comprehend manuals and other written documents.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Transport vehicles to various outside sources.
• Represent the Department in a professional manner.
• Mechanical or automotive repair experience required.
• Experience reading and comprehending automotive or mechanical installation/repair manuals.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• A Valid Virginia State Driver's License required.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
