Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery and equipment to keep production running efficiently.

This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and supporting overall plant operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment to reduce unplanned breakdowns
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues such as bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, control panels, VFDs, and low- to medium-voltage wiring
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to diagnose problems and plan repairs
  • Safely perform lockout/tagout procedures, follow all safety protocols, and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Install, adjust, and align new or rebuilt equipment, components, and control devices as needed
  • Document maintenance work performed, parts used, and findings in work orders or maintenance systems
  • Communicate equipment status, repair needs, and improvement ideas with supervisors, operators, and other team members
Additional Responsibilities
  • Inspect equipment and perform preventative maintenance tasks such as lubrication, filter changes, and system checks
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hand and power tools
  • Assist with general facility maintenance and repairs as needed
  • Participate in training and cross-training efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of industrial maintenance or mechanic experience
  • Strong mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and technical documents
  • Experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools
  • High school diploma or GED required
