General Function:
V2X is looking for a skilled Automotive Electrical Technician. The position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical wiring to OEM standards, diagnosing problems with all vehicle electrical systems, repairing damaged electrical parts, and maintaining electrical repair equipment for an automotive manufacturer. The position is also responsible to coach, mentor and instruct training programs.
Responsibilities
This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.
Specific Duties:
  • Provide weekday and/or weekend on-site vehicle repair at an OEM vehicle assembly facility
  • Install new vehicle wiring systems per OEM standards
  • Service and repair electrical systems on new OEM vehicles
  • Service of electrical automotive parts
  • Diagnose electrical issues and execute a course of action
  • Repair and troubleshoot immobilizer and alarm systems
  • Repair and or replace faulty wiring, connectors or electrical systems
  • Advanced automotive systems diagnostic skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work skillfully with highly technical diagnostic equipment, including Scan Tools, Lab Scopes, DVOMs, Air
  • Conditioning Recycling Equipment, Vibration Diagnostic Equipment, etc.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to accurately identify the cause(s) of vehicle deficiencies
  • Provide on-site leadership with estimated time for repairs
  • Instruct and guide other repair personnel to improve their understanding of vehicle electrical systems and subsystems
  • Present and demonstrate efficient and effective methods of diagnosing and correcting vehicle electrical systems and sub-system deficiencies
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for other repair personnel by providing interpretation of vehicle electrical system architectures and schematics
  • Communicate and share lessons learned with site leadership and other repair personnel on a timely basis
  • Ability to work well with both customers and co-workers in a team environment
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively at a satellite training facility
  • Complete job reports and processing paperwork
  • Intermediate computer skills, including the use of the internet, Microsoft Office products and email
  • Must have excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in confined vehicle spaces
  • Ability to distinguish subtle color variations

Qualifications
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as an automotive electrical repair technician
  • Advanced knowledge of modern vehicular electrical systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspective
  • Experience with complex problem-solving skills
  • Experience reading and interpreting a digital multimeter, OEM diagnostic scan tool and other automotive related diagnostic test equipment
  • Experience effectively conducting one-on-one and small group discussions
  • Experience interpreting early engineering level electrical schematic diagrams
  • Valid Driver's License

Desired Experience:
  • ASE certifications: ASE 1-8
  • Experience as a shop foreman or lead technician
  • Automotive electrical schematic development experience
  • Automotive Technical Assistance Center Experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

Education:
  • Associates Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, engineering or other related discipline.
