Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a MRO Senior Stress Engineer  to fill a high-impact role focused on substantiating repair and overhaul solutions for many of the world’s largest airlines and aviation customers. In this role, the Stress Engineer will conceive, design, and substantiate innovative repairs for aircraft components of metallic and advanced composite construction. The Stress Engineer will engage with shop maintenance to not only troubleshoot and accomplish repairs, but also develop innovative repair techniques that drive down costs and deliver Best-In-Class solutions for our customers. This role works closely with an experienced Structures DER, providing direct mentorship and a defined career path toward achieving future DER authorization.

What You Will Do

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and manufacturing techniques to the design and substantiation of repairs and or fabrication of repair parts for aircraft components

  • Independently formulate structural analysis of difficult, sometimes complex scope which have significant impact to business

  • Conduct static and/or fatigue analysis on metallic and composite structures

  • Communicate frequently with internal and external customers, mechanics, and leaders to drive status updates, progress, changes, etc.

  • Provide proactive technical support to production groups to meet or exceed external and internal customer requirements

  • Assist in developing processes to accomplish the various procedures in the repair and restoration of components

  • Collaborate effectively with a cross functional team and coordinates with internal customers

  • Creates and improves stress standard work and utilize lean principles to continuously improve stress processes

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

  • Experience in Nastran, Patran, or any other analysis software

  • Experience in AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, SolidWorks, or any other 3D modeling software


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with stress analysis of metallic and composite structure

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bill of materials, technical documents, etc.

  • Substantial knowledge of aircraft materials and fabrication/shop processes

  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to engage in high volume communication with internal and external customers

  • Must be able to handle ambiguity and big picture thinking

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment where decisions need to be made quickly

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
