Marklund in Geneva is hiring a Graphic Designer - Video Specialist!

Marklund is seeking a highly motivated and mission-centered individual for the position of Graphic Designer - Video Specialist. This is a full-time position based out of our Geneva facility. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM with a salary of $53,000-$57,000 based on experience and qualifications.
Who We Are:
Marklund is a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational and therapy services to infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs. With two residential locations - the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva and the Marklund Wasmond Center in Elgin, it is currently home to nearly 178 residents. The Marklund Day School offers Multi-Needs and Life Skills programs for children and young adults with multiple medical needs, and those diagnosed on the autism spectrum. In addition, our Community Day Services program at each site is a therapeutic day program for adults who reside at Marklund and those who come in from the community.

Position Overview
As part of the Marketing & Communications Department, the Graphic Designer should be able to design marketing collateral for print and digital materials following all branding guidelines and standards in support of Marklund's various services and programs.
Essential Job Functions
  • Create marketing, recruiting, advocacy, and fundraising materials, newsletters, ads, web pages and assets/graphics for social posts and email blasts.
  • Makes graphic and content updates to Marklund website.
  • Contributes to layout, typography, and photography decisions.
  • Assists the Chief Communications Officer in complex PR campaigns.
  • Attends and assists at special events.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

This role supports creative projects with a combined expertise in graphic design and video editing, developing original design concepts and supporting marketing/communication campaigns across many types of media, including original live-action video editing, web page design, social media, event design presentations, print layouts and merchandising. Design responsibilities will include 30% video creation / editing and 70% other design (print / events / digital media).
Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Public Relations, Communications or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Graphic Design preferred.
  • Must have excellent design and creativity skills, and be able to manage multiple tasks within a deadline-driven environment.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Must be proficient in photography, video editing and website editing.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software including Publisher, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must have experience in web content management systems.
