Our focus is on promoting independence, easing caregiver stress, and building meaningful community connections.Job SummaryWe are seeking compassionate, reliable Respite Care Providers to provide in-home support services to children and youth with autism and other neurodiverse needs in Airdrie. This role focuses on supporting families by delivering structured, safe, and nurturing respite care within the family home and community.You will assist children with daily routines, emotional regulation, and meaningful engagement while supporting families in maintaining balance and reducing caregiver stress.Key Responsibilities Provide in-home respite care in the family residence and community settings. Support children with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and snack/meal preparation. Implement and follow individualized support plans and behavior support strategies. Support emotional and behavioral regulation using approved calming and de-escalation techniques. Engage children in structured activities including indoor play, outdoor exercise, creative play, and sensory-based activities. Supervise and ensure safety at all times, especially for children with risk factors such as elopement, sensory overload, or self-harm tendencies. Document and report on client progress, incidents, and any changes in condition to supervisors and families. Transport clients safely to and from activities, if required. Observe, document, and report client progress, incidents, and changes to supervisors and families. Minimum 1-2 years of experience supporting children with autism, sensory processing challenges, OCD, ADHD, or other neurodevelopmental conditions. Work collaboratively with families, teammates, and FSCD caseworkers to ensure consistent and quality service delivery. - Demonstrated strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills in a caregiving context. Valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle (required, as transportation may be part of the role). Experience supporting children with autism, sensory processing challenges, OCD, ADHD, or other neurodevelopmental conditions. Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (required prior to commencement). Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, follow structured care plans, and adapt to individual needs. Formal training or certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or similar therapeutic modalities. First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain). Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
