Job Description

Senior Electrical Engineer, Altium for PCB Design, Dallas

Our team at Riccione Resources has partnered with a pioneering deep-tech company to help scale their hardware team. We are looking for an engineer to split their time 50/50 between PCB layout and hands-on hardware bring-up/validation.

Our client builds a breakthrough technology that acts as a high-precision positioning system for real-time human-machine interaction. Applications are for medical, physical AI, and robotics.

The hardware is dense, precise, and unforgiving: highly compact PCBs, fine-pitch components, and sensitive mixed-signal circuits where layout quality directly impacts system tracking accuracy. If you love complex, tangible electrical engineering problems with a direct line from your work to a physical product, this is your environment.

This is a rare opportunity to join a rapidly growing team where your designs are manufactured and shipped directly to cutting-edge medical and AI robotics customers.

Why should you apply here?

  • Entrepreneurial firm, 7+ years in business.
  • Startup mentality.
  • Received third round funding.
  • 40+ employees with the goal to double in size next year.
  • High demand for the product.
  • Application in medical, physical AI, robotics.
  • Intelligent staff solving challenging problems.

What you will be doing:

  • High-Density PCB Design: Lead the schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout process (utilizing industry-standard ECAD suites) for highly compact, space-constrained designs featuring advanced packaging like fine-pitch BGAs.
  • Hands-on Validation & Bring-up: Own the diagnostic testing, debugging, and functional bring-up of newly developed circuitry and rapid-prototype board runs assembled on-site.
  • Test Infrastructure Development: Design and sustain the electrical architecture for custom test fixtures utilized both internally and at international manufacturing partner sites (managed remotely with virtually no travel required).
  • Lifecycle Manufacturing Support: Author detailed hardware specifications and interface closely with fabrication partners to transition designs smoothly from initial prototype runs to high-volume production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams—including firmware, software, industrial design, and operations—to ensure robust product functionality and standards compliance.
  • Engineering Documentation: Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including product requirements, hardware design files, and verification/validation (V&V) test plans.
  • Workflow Optimization: Play an active role in establishing and scaling robust hardware development processes as our engineering team expands.

What are the minimum qualifications?

  • 3+ years of direct PCB layout experience (we’re hiring at multiple levels; more experienced candidates are encouraged to apply).
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Altium.
  • Strong intuition for, and understanding of, circuits and electrical systems.
  • Comfortable solving complex, ambiguous electrical problems with limited direction.
  • Working understanding of common software development processes and the ability to partner closely with firmware and software engineers.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

What will make your résumé stand out?

  • Experience with EMI/EMC standards and testing.
  • C programming experience.
  • Python experience.
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601 standards and experience working in an ISO 13485 quality system (valuable for our medical product lines).
  • Experience taking hardware from prototype into volume manufacturing.

Location: Carrollton or Dallas, TX, 100% onsite.

Salary: 120k 150k + Equity.

Relocation: Will assist.

Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
