The Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia is actively seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to serve in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. This position will provide clinical care in the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia, in addition to education for pediatric fellows, residents, and medical students at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Responsibilities
Clinical - 87%
Provide high-quality, comprehensive care in pediatric cardiology in an effort to improve quality, safety and patient satisfaction. Participate in assigned clinical duties with other faculty in the division. This includes but is not limited to, call duties and providing coverage on nights, weekends, and holidays. Meeting all metrics associated with Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE). Becoming increasingly productive through the provision of clinical services in the Wellstar Golisano Children's Hospital of Georgia and outpatient clinics, to include outreach locations. Meeting and maintaining productivity targets as set forth by the department chair and MCG Dean's Office through clinical services provided. Promoting good professional relationships and build referral patterns with Wellstar MCG physicians and physicians outside of Wellstar MCG. Providing prompt feedback to referring physicians.
Teaching - 13%
Providing education and training to fellows, residents, medical students, and staff in pediatric cardiology which includes but is not limited to clinical supervision, consultation, and didactics. Achieve and maintain teaching evaluation scores at or above the department mean. Attend 50% or more weekly pediatric Grand Rounds presentations and monthly faculty meetings.
Required Qualifications
MD, DO or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Board Certified in General Pediatrics and BE/BC in Pediatric Cardiology. Must have or be able to obtain a state of Georgia medical license, obtain a federal DEA and be CPR certified.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Assistant Professor - Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class.
