Job Description
Reporting to theAssociate Director of Internal Audit, the Senior/Auditor plays a vital role inevaluating and strengthening the University's operational, financial, and regulatory compliance controls.This role collaborates closely with academic and administrative leaders across campus to assess business risks, execute risk-based audits,and provide practical recommendations that support the University's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop customized, risk-based audit programs tailored to University units and complex business processes.
  • Perform detailed audit testing, prepare high-quality workpapers, and document findings in accordance with professional auditing standards.
  • Draft clear, actionable audit reports for executive leadership and department heads.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to identify trends, anomalies, and operational efficiencies.
  • Evaluate compliance with federal/state regulations, higher education standards, and university policies (including research grant administration).

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and full-time equivalent hiring ranges:
  • Senior Auditor: $88,350 - $110,450; 4+ years related professional experience
  • Auditor: $74,450 - $93,050; 1-4 years experience

Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Auditor: 1-4 years of professional internal/external audit experience.
  • Senior Auditor: 4+ years of progressively responsible audit experience (higher education or complex non-profit experience preferred).

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to present findings to University leadership.
Proficiency with electronic audit workpapers and advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification attained or in progress (CPA, CIA, CFE).
Experience in higher education internal audit or research administration/grant compliance.
Hands-on experience with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI).
