The Opportunity

The Quality Auditor is responsible for evaluating engineering, procurement and construction activities and processes through reviews, audits, assessments and pre-qualifications to minimize risk and maintain a comprehensive and functional Quality Management System (QMS) and/or the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program.  #LI-LP1

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and reports on the effective implementation of Black and Veatch policies, manuals, standards, programs, procedures and guidelines.
  • Leads or participates in independent internal and external quality audits/surveillances.
  • Participates in preparing audit plans.
  • Prepares draft audit reports.
  • Monitors and evaluates Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities to ensure quality of engineering work.
  • Conducts audit activities and assessments/surveillances in accordance with Division QMS requirements, and reports findings in written reports.
  • Identifies, reports and tracks non-conformances and deficiencies, and coordinates corrective actions by following defined QMS criteria.
  • Audits supplier and subcontractor quality document submittals to ensure code, specification and contract requirements are met.
  • Reviews project work processes for compliance with Division QMS and/or the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program.
  • Supports continuous improvement efforts and the change management effects associated with implementation of improvements.
  • For a Nuclear position, additional duties may include: 
    • Nuclear QA Audits and Surveillances.
    • Nuclear QA audit plans, schedules, programs and procedures.
    • Corrective action programs.
    • Audits and surveillance checklist development.
    • Root Cause Analyses participation.
    • Trend Analysis development.
    • Supplier qualification programs and commercial grade dedication.
    • Individual contributor with no direct reports.

  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook).
  •  For a Nuclear Position, knowledge of nuclear QA auditing requirements and practices Non-technical: Demonstrates intermediate: Process management, conflict management, total work systems, written communications. 
Minimum Qualifications

4 year degree in Management or Business.

Minimum 5-8 years prior experience specifically in the development and implementation of effective Quality Compliance Audits.

For a Nuclear Position: 5 years of total experience in nuclear QA oversight. 

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

ASQ Certified Auditor training Certification: Certified Quality Auditor; active member of American Society for Quality (desired)
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Normal office environment; may include heavy industrial construction exposure. Occasional physical work conditions: Capable of walking 5 miles and climbing stairs to 300 foot height; walk, climb stairs, ladders, move in/out of vehicles; lift or move up to 25 pounds; supplier or construction site environment has frequent exposure to vibration and loud noise, and occasional exposure to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, slippery uneven walking surfaces, and risk of electrical shock.
