Quality Assurance Coder & Auditor – HCC Coding

Pay Rate: $49.48/Hour
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote
Employment Type: Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Coder & Auditor with strong HCC (Hierarchical Condition Category) coding and risk adjustment experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding, clinical documentation, HCC validation, and quality assurance auditing.

This is a fully remote position requiring excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance audits of medical records and coded charts.
  • Review and validate HCC coding and risk adjustment documentation.
  • Identify missed, unsupported, or incorrectly captured HCC diagnoses.
  • Validate ICD-10-CM codes against clinical documentation.
  • Conduct coding accuracy and compliance audits.
  • Review documentation to ensure HCC conditions are appropriately supported.
  • Identify coding trends, errors, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare audit findings, reports, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with coding teams, providers, and clinical staff to resolve documentation and coding issues.
  • Provide education and feedback related to HCC coding, documentation, and coding compliance.
  • Maintain knowledge of CMS-HCC models, ICD-10-CM guidelines, and risk adjustment requirements.
  • Participate in virtual meetings, training sessions, and presentations using Zoom.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated professional experience in HCC coding and auditing. MUST HAVE
  • Strong knowledge of CMS-HCC risk adjustment and ICD-10-CM coding.
  • Experience performing medical record, chart, or coding audits.
  • Strong understanding of clinical documentation requirements.
  • Experience identifying and correcting coding discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including reviewing and organizing audit data.
  • Comfortable conducting and participating in Zoom presentations and virtual meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.

  • Medicare Advantage experience
