Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented contract Audit Specialist to support commercial credit review activities. This is a Contract/Temporary position focused on evaluating borrower financial information, refreshing risk assessments, and helping ensure annual loan reviews are completed accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial banking judgment and the ability to identify emerging credit issues while maintaining well-documented, audit-ready files.


Responsibilities:

• Conduct annual reviews for commercial lending relationships to confirm files are current, accurate, and completed within required timelines.

• Evaluate business and personal financial statements, tax documentation, cash flow performance, and guarantor capacity to assess overall credit quality.

• Examine payment history, covenant adherence, collateral coverage, and borrowing activity to detect shifts in portfolio risk.

• Refresh internal risk assessments and flag developing credit concerns, exceptions, or policy-related issues for further review.

• Draft concise credit summaries that present findings, key risks, and recommended actions in a clear and thorough manner.

• Organize and maintain supporting documentation so credit files remain complete, accessible, and prepared for audit review.

• Work closely with lenders and credit leaders to gather outstanding materials and resolve gaps that could delay review completion.

• Assist in reducing the backlog of annual credit reviews ahead of the upcoming audit cycle.

• At least 3 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial underwriting, portfolio management, or commercial banking.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret commercial borrower financial statements, tax returns, and cash flow trends.
• Familiarity with evaluating risk ratings, covenant compliance, collateral positions, and guarantor support.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare organized and well-supported credit documentation.
• High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple reviews within established deadlines.
• Proficiency in collaborating with lending and credit teams to obtain information and move reviews to completion.
• Sound judgment in identifying potential credit issues and escalating concerns appropriately.
