Job description

Teuscher Walpole is seeking a Senior Tax Associates to server as technical advisors, providing guidance in resolving moderate to complex tax issues. In this role, you will collaborate closely with staff, seniors, partners, clients, other service providers and the taxing authorities. The ability to supervise multiple engagements simultaneously, preparing income tax returns and tax planning projections, is essential. Conducting research and committing to additional hours during peak seasons will also be required. Senior Tax Associate will have the opportunity to contribute to practice development by taking a leading role in marketing efforts and fostering long-term relationships, with the potential for advancement to partner for the right candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and review complex tax returns and planning engagements for a diverse clientele.
  • Provide technical tax advice and resolve routine to complex tax issues.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct tax research and develop planning strategies for clients.
  • Communicate directly with clients, partners and taxing authorities.
  • Monitor project budgets, recommend billing, and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Participate in firm growth initiatives, including business development.


Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting, focusing on income and transfer taxes.
  • Experience with various entity types and industries.
  • CPA license preferred but not required.
  • Master's Degree in tax or accounting.
  • Proficient at tax research and familiar with relevant sections of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and regulations.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work in a paperless environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and proactive, client-focused attitude.
  • Participate in business development initiative, helping to grow the firm.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Thomson Reuters CS products (Ultra Tax CS, Planner CS, Fixed Assets CS) preferred but not required.
  • Experience in areas including multi-state taxation, trust and estate tax planning and compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and international taxation.
