Job description

A/V Conferencing Technology Specialist position with New Era Technology offers you the following:

The A/V Conferencing Technology Specialist is responsible for providing audiovisual and video conferencing support as well as maintaining audiovisual and video conferencing systems at the client site.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Ensure audiovisual, multimedia, and computing systems are operational.
  • Assist with setting up and operation of audiovisual, multimedia, and computing systems, as well as providing support for conferences and events.
  • Provide audiovisual engineering, service, and maintenance and operational support for the facility daily, based on a full-service model - installation and/or configuration of equipment may be necessary.
  • Monitor audiovisual, multimedia, and computing systems to ensure operational readiness, diagnose performance issues, and notify the client of performance deficiencies.
  • If a capability is degraded or non-operational, notify client and Manager, Strategic Workforce to identify and recommend alternative and/or temporary equipment configurations and/or alternative modes of operation necessary to permit continued system use.
  • Recommend appropriate repair, replacement actions, or upgrades that may be necessary to restore and/or enhance the system's capabilities. If required, work with New Era's Service department to coordinate repair or replacement actions.
  • Provide on-the-job audiovisual, multimedia, and computing systems operator training to clients, as well as review or update audiovisual documentation, procedures, and processes as necessary.
  • Coordinate and schedule videoconference requests including ad-hoc calls.
  • Maintain log of any loaner equipment and be point of contact for all A/V requests.
  • Provide support that falls outside of the scope when requested and as needed. Must inform Manager, Strategic Workforce of request and work to obtain necessary approval and ticket if necessary.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Full compliance with company's policies and procedures.
  • Safe use of all equipment.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by management.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years industry experience in client-facing technical support role.
  • Knowledge of Cisco or Polycom videoconferencing systems.
  • Knowledge of audio/visual (A/V) control systems and components.
  • Strong client and service focused mindset, demonstrate excellent listening skills and the ability to understand customer issues.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting issues pertaining to the operation of the A/V system including control system, videoconference codecs, displays, cameras, microphones, etc. in all conference rooms and A/V capable offices.
  • Ability to read and follow AV system signal flow diagrams.
  • Proficient in removing and installing audio visual equipment and video conference codecs for repairs.
  • An ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding sensitive or confidential information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, understand, and interpret job-related documents, instructions, policies, and communications in English. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with employees, customers, vendors, and other business partners, as applicable to the position.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS: An AVIXA CTS certification is preferred.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Ability to drive a personal vehicle to client sites.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily.
  • Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding and lifts.
  • Willing to work at heights.
  • Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects.
  • Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand.
  • Regularly understand the speech of another person.
  • Frequently work on projects that require deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Client location(s) in the Plano, TX area.

 EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: This position generally operates during normal business hours; Monday - Friday 9:00am - 6:00 pm; however, specific start and end times may vary based on business needs, workload, and job responsibilities. Occasional work outside of normal business hours may be required.

 TRAVEL: Local travel to client sites is required.
