Position Title Audio Visual Technician III FLSA Non-Exempt FT/PT Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Work Schedule M-F 8:30-5 Grade 11 Compensation Range $50,488-66,347 Summary
Create and implement technology solutions for individual users, workgroups and college wide as necessary. Diagnoses and correct technology problems in classrooms, event setups, and conference rooms. This position will work with projectors, sound systems, data projectors, audio amplifiers, video screens, speakers. Repair equipment and resolve all audio-visual technology problems. Maintain network connectivity for all classroom technology and remote equipment. Assist, as necessary, both Network and Desktop Groups. Act as an on-campus subject matter expert for classroom and remote systems.
Essential Role Responsibilities
Train/Support faculty, staff, and students in the use of audio-visual equipment and software
Remediate vulnerabilities by updating and changing configuration as needed
Create and implement solutions using various tools available such as but not limited to scripting, group policy, and third-party applications.
Perform diagnostics on classroom equipment and software.
Coordinate repair or replacement of audio-visual technology.
Assist in maintaining equipment and software inventory.
Assign/reserve IP addresses and ranges, maintain MAC address filters.
In coordination with Audio Visual Services Manager and Audio-Visual Control System administrator, integrate third-party firmware patches to maintain and protect college av equipment

Assist AV Control System Administrator with implementation of code fixes for active spaces.
Manage classroom and conference room systems, including but not limited to desktop computer, projector, and other related AV equipment.
Offer technology services and solutions for functional areas during events, as needed.
Maintain administrator rights escalation using appropriate tools.
Assist with cable termination and management throughout the college campus, in presentation spaces.
Evaluate all audio visual and desktop equipment to determine hardware and software compatibility.
Diagnose and resolve network connectivity problems throughout the college campus.
Perform tier 2 technical support with classroom, conference room, and presentation systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Required Associate's degree Experience Required
Associates' Degree in Computer Science, Entertainment Technology or related program and 3 years of experience combined in entertainment technology or technical computer field required, or Microsoft certification/training with 5 years of direct experience in the field, or an approved combination of education, training, and experience with 9 years of directly related work experience.
Working Knowledge of Camera and Lighting Techniques
Working Knowledge of Sound Systems
Experience with troubleshooting audio visual presentation systems

Ability to read and generate professional AV system schematic diagrams
Experience with Biamp Audio DSP systems or similar

CTS Certification or ability to obtain CTS certification within 6 months of employment.
Detailed functional knowledge of current Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft application suites

Knowledge and experience with line-level voltage work
Knowledge and experience with low-voltage work
Knowledge and familiarity with Crestron AV Systems
CTI-CTF or ability to obtain CTI-CTF within one year of employment, preferred.
CTI-P101 Experience preferred.
Working knowledge of virtual environments.
Working knowledge of Ethernet networking protocols.
Detailed working knowledge of domain naming systems.
Detailed working knowledge of video conferencing platforms., Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Knowledge of hand tools and electrical safety procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications Physical Demand Summary
Lifting classroom equipment up to 75-lbs. transporting classroom equipment up to 200 lbs. on carts. Moving furniture to access classroom equipment.
Work areas sometimes include close quarters such as closets, ceilings, and crawl spaces.
Ability to work from scaffolds and ladders
Exposure to electromagnetic radiation, ozone, and laser light.
May be exposed to high voltage electricity and high temperature components as well as soldering tools.
Occasional overtime required.
Hours as assigned, including the possibility of evening or weekend coverage.
May occasionally travel to other HCC campus sites.

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
