Job description

UJA-Federation of New York is the world's largest local philanthropy. We care for people in need and inspiring the Jewish future. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Audio Visual Technician to provide day-to-day audiovisual support for our conference centers, meeting rooms, executive events, and special programs. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional service to internal and external clients, including senior executives, board members, and VIP guests. This is fundamentally a hands-on technical position, and success in this role requires strong AV technical skills paired with outstanding customer service, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and responsive in high-profile environments.
The role is a second-shift position with standard hours of 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Flexibility is essential to this role: the technician must be able to occasionally shift hours to stay later, work mornings, and work an occasional Sunday as business and event needs dictate. Reliability and punctuality are essential.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily audiovisual support for conference rooms, executive meetings, presentations, town halls, and special events, including setup, testing, operating, and breakdown of AV equipment.
  • Deliver exceptional white-glove customer service to senior executives, board members, donors, and VIP guests.
  • Consult with meeting organizers and conference room users to understand event requirements and recommend appropriate audiovisual solutions.
  • Operate and support videoconferencing platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other collaboration technologies.
  • Troubleshoot audiovisual, videoconferencing, networking, and room-control system issues during live meetings and events.
  • Perform routine maintenance and coordinate repairs or replacements of AV equipment as needed.
  • Provide timely responses to service requests and support tickets while maintaining a professional, respectful, and customer-focused approach.

Qualifications
  • College degree in a related field and 3-5 years of audiovisual support experience in a corporate environment, or an equivalent combination of professional AV experience and technical school training.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide professional, white-glove service.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize competing demands, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic hands-on audiovisual skills, including familiarity with projection systems, monitors, audio mixing boards, wireless microphones, display resolutions, and general AV cabling.
  • Working knowledge of video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, and basic Mac operating systems, along with a basic understanding of networking fundamentals and videoconferencing technologies.
  • Experience supporting Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, occasionally climb ladders, and move audiovisual equipment as required.
