Job Description

Position           : AV (Audio & Visual) Specialist

Location          : Jackson, MS Hybrid (Must be local)

Duration         : Long term contract

Job Summary:

Hours per Week:
Up to 40.  Important: This is an “as needed” position, advance notice will be provided to the contractor regarding where and when they must report to work.  It is authorized for the contractor to work another job in addition to this one.  The contractor is likely to work some hours each week, but the number of hours will vary. 

Some weeks will have up to forty hours and some much less. 

The contractor must make a commitment to making this position a priority and an obligation to report to the location when requested.

Description of the job functions the contractor will be expected to perform:
The AV Specialist will support the procurement and execution of construction-related IT projects involving audio/visual and structured cabling. Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in project scoping and technical requirements definition
  • Conducting site walkthroughs and attending design meetings
  • Assisting procurement staff with drafting technical specifications and evaluating proposals
  • Serving as subject matter expert for AV and cabling installations
  • Coordinating with vendors and construction managers during implementation
  • Supporting project closeout, testing, and documentation

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced knowledge of AV system design and integration
  • Intermediate experience with structured cabling (voice/data)
  • Intermediate experience with construction project coordination
  • Intermediate experience with RFP technical writing and proposal evaluation
  • Intermediate ability to conduct site walkthroughs and produce technical documentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 Suite

Preferred/Not Required Skills:

  • CTS, CTS-D, or equivalent certifications
