Salary: $34,257.60

Job Summary

The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a Digital Programming Specialist to create engaging video content and in-person experiences for our community. This role is responsible for collaborating with library staff across the system to produce educational and entertaining videos, teaching production-focused technology classes (including orientation for the Main Librarys Production Studio), and serving as primary tech person for hybrid events and meetings. Successful candidates are passionate about technology, video production, and helping others build technical and creative skills. The Digital Programming Specialist must have excellent communication skills (both oral and written), ability to take direction, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments within a large library system.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a variety of Studio events and classes (including Orientations) geared towards building our communitys video, audio, and/or photography skills.
  • Serve as the lead technician for virtual and hybrid programs, to provide a smooth technical experience for these events.
  • Collaborate effectively with other CALS staff to plan, record, and edit educational videos for CALS's YouTube channel and other digital platforms.
  • Manage the CALS A/V Production Studio by assisting and scheduling patrons to use the studio, and troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain and organize the Digital Programming departments audio/visual equipment, monitor inventory, and recommend equipment needs for future programs.
  • Work with the rest of the Digital Programming team to offer digital literacy classes, technology workshops, outreaches, and hands-on learning opportunities for patrons of all skill levels.
  • Help ensure CALS programs follow current accessibility standards and best practices for virtual and hybrid programming.
  • Train and support library staff in the use of digital programming tools and A/V equipment as needed.
  • Assist with other projects that support CALS's mission of lifelong learning and community engagement.


Qualifications

  • An associate's degree or equivalent experience in technology, digital media production, or a related field.
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • Experience with photography and/or videography.
  • Proficiency with digital media production software and workflows.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including the ability to work comfortably with people of all technology experience levels.
  • Reliable transportation.


Schedule

This full-time position and will require some regular evenings and weekends.


Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to transport, set up, and break down audiovisual equipment. Candidates should be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with the assistance of a cart or wagon.
