Job description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

This position involves setting up and operating microphones, speakers, audio consoles, projectors, displays, and software such as QLabEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Operate audio consoles and playback systems during rehearsals and performances

  • Set up and strike microphones, cabling, speakers, projectors, screens, and related equipment

  • Set up and operate communication (comms) systems for tech and dress rehearsals

  • Operate QLab for both sound and projection cues during rehearsals and performances

  • Assist with load-in and strike for productions and events

  • This role focuses on technical operation and support, not system design or content creation

  • Adheres to department safety procedures and equipment handling guidelines

Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to work independently at the sound/projection console for up to two hours uninterrupted

  • Familiarity with theatrical production procedures and policies

  • Be able to lift at least 25lbs

  • Excellent punctuality and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to follow cues, run sheets, and written or verbal instructions accurately during live performances

  • Prior experience is helpful but not required; on-the-job training will be provided

  • Interest in learning theatrical audio, projection, and production workflows
