The Orange County Convention Center is seeking to hire Skilled theatrical technical and professional audio & lighting individuals who will help to create various size and types of events in the 2,643 seat Linda W. Chapin Theatre. Individuals in this role must be able to work irregular hours according to show activity including nights, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, selected candidates must be able to work "run of show" (3-9 days in a row) as determined by the Theatre House Manager.
Job Description
Representative Duties/Assignments
Representative Duties based on Level & Role below:
Production:
Production Manager (PM) - oversee event operations inside the Chapin Theatre from the event load-in, to load-out. Work alongside Clients and House Manager to produce Theatre events. PM will act as the liaison between client's Production Manager and Chapin Theatre Technical Staff, and during events, will perform house manager duties in guest areas.
Audio:
  • Lead Audio Engineer (A1) - maintains and configures in-house audio system (Meyer Audio System with Yamaha Rivage PM10) along with deploying audio equipment including mics and speakers. Understands the use of audio standard gear including the following brands Shure, DPA, Sennheiser, Meyer, and Clear-Com. Must have proficient programming experience and knowledge of Yamaha Rivage PM series consoles.
  • Audio Assistant (A2) - assists the Lead Audio Engineer in configuring in-house audio system (Meyer Audio System with Yamaha Rivage PM10) and helps deploy audio equipment including mics and speakers. Will work directly with clients and their guests to instruct use of specific types of microphones including dressing clients with Lavalier mics. Will also assist House Production Manager with various other client requests including, but not limited to, providing tables and chairs. Understands the use of audio standard gear including the following brands Shure, DPA, Sennheiser, Meyer, and Clear-Com.
Lighting:
  • Lead Lighting Director (LD) - maintains and configures digital lighting console (Theatre currently uses HES Full Boar 4). Works with clients to create lighting "looks" for shows and deploy, and maintain, conventional theatrical lighting instruments (lekos, pars, LED fixtures) on a fly-rail system. Lighting Director will also work with clients to program LED moving light technology using DMX lighting control protocol. Must have proficient programming experience and knowledge of HES lighting consoles.
  • Lighting Assistant (LA) - assists the Lead Lighting Director in configuring the digital lighting console Theatre currently uses HES Full Boar 4) and helps to deploy, and maintain, conventional theatrical lighting (lekos, pars, LED fixtures) on a fly-rail system.
Minimum Qualifications
2 years of experience in the live-event industry including convention centers, arenas, stadiums, amphitheaters, theaters, or other similar audio/visual industries; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
Preferences
Production Manager (PM): 4+ years of experience in one or more of the above representative duties.
Lead Audio Engineer (A1): 4+ years of experience in one or more of the above representative duties.
Lead Lighting Director (LD): 4+ years of experience in one or more of the above representative duties.
