Position Title
Audio Visual Technician lll
Position Summary
The AV Technician III performs a variety of complex tasks related to the design, procurement, preparation, installation, maintenance, operation, and high-level operational support of AV equipment and related computer hardware and software used across the College.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interacts with clients to guide them in understanding and using classroom technology.
  • Provides AV equipment evaluation, selection, purchase, programming, and maintenance.
  • Participates in the planning, design, and execution of new learning/multimedia enhanced spaces, equipment purchases, and requests for proposals from vendors.
  • Utilizes project management tools to create and maintain AV technology documentation.
  • Provides support for campus events including large venue sound, lighting, video recording and streaming.
  • Attends training and industry events to maintain and upgrade skills and professional development.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and projects as part of the IT/AV staff.
  • Stay knowledgeable concerning emerging trends in the area of instructional/administrative technology, and when appropriate, make recommendations for improvement to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
High School diploma required. Must have a minimum of six years of directly related experience and a high school diploma is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with web and video conferencing and video streaming. Highly skilled at explaining technical subjects to non-technical and technical customers. Maintains an awareness of state-of-the-art concepts, practices and technologies and applies this awareness to his/her work. Must display excellent administrative, organizational, and time management skills while operating in a fast-paced environment. Must possess a strong work ethic and ready to work extremely hard executing strategic plans. Self-motivated, positive attitude, mature personality, and being oriented are also necessary for success in this position.

Certifications, Licenses, Restrictions
ITIL Foundation preferred
AV certification preferred.
A+ certification or industry-recognized equivalent.
Cisco Certified Technician Collaboration preferred.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: sit, walk, stand, use hands to handle A/V equipment, operate computers, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to: reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to: stoop, climb, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.
