Indiantown High School is seeking a dependable and service-oriented maintenance professional to help maintain safe, clean, and fully functional campus facilities. This role plays an important part in supporting the daily learning environment by ensuring classrooms, offices, and campus spaces are properly maintained and ready for students, faculty, and staff.
The successful candidate will perform a variety of routine maintenance, repair, and custodial duties across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance. This position also assists with classroom and event setup, monitors facility safety concerns, and helps ensure campus buildings remain secure and operational.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
  • Demonstrated experience and/or training in the trade skills of carpentry, concrete, plumbing, electrical, and painting;
  • Knowledge of the proper and safe use of power tools and equipment used in various trades;
  • Knowledge and experience in custodial duties such as floor and carpet care including machinery used;
  • Knowledge and understanding of biomedical waste and supplies and the proper storage and disposal;
  • Knowledge of safety hazards of buildings and grounds which include maintaining hazardous chemical lists;
  • Knowledge and experience in inspections, warranties and service contracts;
  • Planning and managing projects;
  • Be computer literate;
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions;
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and other irsc faculty and staff members;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • The following is preferred:
  • Additional education in college, technical or trade school;
  • Training and experience of fire and security alarms, HVAC equipment;
  • Some knowledge of the use and repair of audio-visual equipment;
  • Work experience in building maintenance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • General maintenance tasks and repairs of a routine nature;
  • Responsible for understanding the accepted repair practices in the various skilled trades;
  • Shampooing carpets and scrubbing floors periodically to maintain appearance;
  • Vacuuming, dusting, and keeping all classrooms clean and ready for use;
  • Advising the provost when a situation exists that requires attention;
  • Locking and opening buildings and setting alarms.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
Changing light bulbs; Adjustment and repair to doors, locks and windows; Repairing and replacement of shelves and cabinets; Assembling and repairing office desks, chairs, computer stations and typewriter stands; repairing ceramic tile, carpet, drywall and door frame; Completing repair and maintenance of plumbing and minor electrical and hvac equipment such as changing filters, belts and greasing; Completing custodial duties involving the cleaning of classrooms, carpets, floors and lavatories. Setting up chairs, tables, public announcing systems and audio-visual equipment for all classes and special events; Keeping all classrooms clean and ready for use by students; Informing the provost of any situation that might require immediate attention regarding safety; Offering suggestions for improvement of campus maintenance; Completing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant; Hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30pm. Hours are subject to change.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, use ladders and other equipment, operate a motor vehicle and carry items occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds. The employee must be in good physical condition in order to do the type of work required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
