Job description

The systems (electronic) technicians provide systems design and technical documentation,

installation, component level repair and operational support for a wide array of electronic

communications systems and equipment. They are proficient in the use of tools and test

equipment to troubleshoot problems and effect repairs. They provide routine preventative

maintenance for conference and TV production facilities, radio systems and TV post production

systems and equipment. They provide fabrication support where required and install and

maintain short and long haul signal distribution systems which utilize copper cable and fiber

optic routing and switching. The system (electronic) technicians provide advanced conference

operation services to support audio and video teleconferences, fiber hub network feeds, Video

Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) and satellite television broadcasts. They design, document, install

and maintain a web of intra and inter facility audio and video transmission sub systems at

DOE/HQ in Washington, DC and Germantown, MD.

EXPERIENCE:

Five years’ experience and knowledge of operation, repair and installation of audio visual

equipment

• Maintain and enhance in-house cable TV infrastructure

• Possess relevant AV experience in regards to projectors, video relay, broadcast and

design

• Technical aptitude toward AV systems, video conferencing, computer technology as well

as networking, wireless, data cabling standards

• Organizational and planning skills to orchestrate setups of weekly events in client’s

conference rooms or offsite

• Low voltage cabling installation

• Experience with digital AV installation and maintenance

• Training customers on the use of systems that we install

• Experience in commercial AV installations

• Experience installing and/or configuring Polycom and/or Tandberg videoconferencing

products.

• Working knowledge of basic hand tools for installs

• Good mechanical/fabrication and soldering skills are a plus

• Ability to accurately read wiring diagrams

• Communication skills (written and verbal) and proven face-to-face customer support

skills and the ability to multi-task several different projects or issues
