Job Summary
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for AV system installations, integrations, and service projects. This role works closely with sales, engineering, and project management teams to develop pricing, review specifications, and ensure alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review bid documents, project specifications, drawings, and RFPs to understand scope and requirements
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for AV systems, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Collaborate with sales and design teams to ensure technical accuracy and project feasibility
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, quotations, and bid submissions
  • Source pricing from vendors and negotiate as needed to meet cost targets
  • Analyze project risks and identify opportunities for cost savings or value engineering
  • Maintain and update pricing databases, labor rates, and estimating tools
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site surveys, and client presentations when required
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, and client requirements
  • Support project handoff to operations teams after contract award

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree Preferred
  • Track record of success
  • 2-5+ years of estimating experience in AV, low-voltage, IT infrastructure, or construction industries
  • Strong knowledge of audio-visual systems, including:
    • Video conferencing systems
    • Public Address Systems
    • Display technologies (LED, LCD, projection)
    • Audio systems and DSP
    • Control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and CRM tools
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification or similar AV industry credentials
  • Experience with design-build projects and integration environments
  • Familiarity with construction processes and low-voltage standards
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals related to AV systems
