POSITION SUMMARY:

The Stagehand Supervisor is responsible for the successful load-in, production, and load-out of shows, concerts and events. Acts as a primary on-site technical contact for all events at the Reno Events Center, including audio-visual, lighting, staging, sound and communication. Oversees the set-up of equipment such as stages, seating risers, chairs, tables, etc. Supervises stagehands and facility staff during load-ins, concerts and events, and load-outs. May act as Event Manager representing the Reno Events Center during select concerts and events. Provides professional communication and customer service to coworkers, clients, vendors and the general public. The Stagehand Supervisor is responsible for the successful load-in, production, and load-out of shows, concerts and events. Acts as a primary on-site technical contact for all events at the Reno Events Center, including audio-visual, lighting, staging, sound and communication. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise stagehands in all aspects of the conversion process for events including butย not limited to setup and tear down of all event/team set ups as well as numerous ad hocย assignments as required by the event.
  • Loading and unloading trucks
  • Assisting in the assembly and disassembly of show productions
  • Construct set pieces, trusses, risers, stages, musical equipment, etc.
  • Spotlight operation during shows for qualified personnel
  • Assist with video, sound, and light production before, during and after shows.
  • Move furniture, road cases, miscellaneous equipment.
  • Duties may include setting up and tearing down flooring, portable chairs, barricades,ย staging, tables and other furnishings and equipment.
  • Performs routine facility maintenance as related to backstage areas.
  • Oversees Concerts/events to ensure satisfactory delivery of contracted services in aย professional and timely manner.
  • Assists in supervising the scheduling of concerts/events to ensure no conflict.
  • Assists with developing proposals for concerts/events including projecting of materials,ย equipment and staff needed to support.
  • Establishes good rapport with concerts/events representatives and deals with theย representatives in a courteous and positive manner.
  • Consistently evaluates the effectiveness of concerts/events. Solicits participant input toย gauge participant reaction to event quality. Uses evaluation results and past eventsย experience to plan new events.
  • Maintains a competent and motivated workforce by assisting with the training, developing,ย coaching, and evaluating the performance of employees. Keeps employees informed ofย plans, schedules, policies, and procedures that affect their job performance. Providesย timely and appropriate feedback to staff on performance and work issues.
  • Is aware of changing needs within concerts/events and is flexible in assuring necessaryย modifications are made in a timely fashion.
  • Inspects the REC and assures the event site is properly set up for use byย concerts/events participants and presents a satisfactory appearance.
  • Monitors all concerts/events starting times and activity to assure the maintenance of anย "on time" schedule of events including load-in and load-out.
  • Assists with assembly and disassembly of show productions, concerts, events as needed.
  • Maintains a professional and productive atmosphere.
  • Report to work as scheduled and/or requested.
  • Is knowledgeable in the RSCVA Safety Program and takes necessary steps to maintain aย safe work environment. Adheres to safe work practices to prevent injuries.
  • Consistently demonstrates positive, interpersonal relations with all constituencies;ย cooperates harmoniously with others in the accomplishment of the RSCVAโ€™s strategicย goals and objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.
  • Adheres to attendance and punctuality requirements per RSCVA policy. Provides properย notification for absences and tardies. Takes corrective action to prevent recurringย absences or tardies.
  • Uses time effectively and constructively. Does not abuse supplies, equipment, and service.
  • Observes all RSCVA and departmental policies governing conduct while at work (e.g.,telephone and computer use, electronic messaging, smoking regulations, parking,ย breaks and other related policies).
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED, bachelorโ€™s degree preferred.
  • 4 yearsโ€™ prior work experience as a supervisor in an event or concert production environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations relating to public health and safety in large buildingย facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques associated with event and concertย production, load-in, set up, rigging, production, and load out.
  • Experience in costing of concerts and events; labor, materials and services provided. Proficiencyย in basic computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must be detail oriented and have exceptional organizational skills as well as ability to multi-taskย and balance priorities.
  • Must be team oriented, able to develop and maintain relationships, and enjoy working with andย assisting coworkers, vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with staff, supervisors, visitors,ย vendors, and the public.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions; establish and maintainย cooperative working relationships; work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Ability to review and comprehend work assignments and operating manuals.
  • Possess a valid Nevada driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • May require work inside or outside of the building as needed by events.
  • May work near moving mechanical parts.
  • May work in high places and be exposed to various temperatures inside the building andย outside the building, airborne particles, fumes, chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is loud.
  • Required to work extended hours due to the requirements of production (before, during,and after events).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, bend (at neck and waist), and twist.
  • Frequently required to stand for long periods of time during events.
