Job Responsibilities:
  • Equipment & Inventory: Master all first aid equipment (e.g., ECG monitor, AED) and maintain triage room supplies with daily inventory checks.
  • Protocols & Assistance: Follow WVOEMS Paramedic Protocols, handle critical incidents, and assist local EMS agencies. Provide directions to hospitals and support state paramedic protocols.
  • Guest & Patient Care: Greet and triage patients, ensure quality care for serious injuries, and coordinate transport via ambulance or patrol vehicles. Offer directions to medical facilities and maintain safety standards.
  • Safety & Operations: Inspect slopes and prepare trails, monitor transport systems, and report hazards. Conduct patrol sweeps, enforce skier responsibility codes, and ensure effective trail closing.
  • Team Support: Assist with emergency evacuations, maintain patrol facilities, and support guest services. Document incidents and contribute to team efforts and departmental goals.
  • Maintenance & Communication: Handle slope maintenance, clear hazards, and perform professional skiing/riding. Keep accurate records and communicate effectively with team members and guests.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current WV certified EMT-Paramedic with ACLS/ PHTLS
  • Obtain an Outdoor Emergency Care if not already acquired
  • Hold a current Healthcare Provider CPR card
  • Advance/Expert Level skier or snowboarder

Driving:
  • Have a valid Driver’s license and ability to pass the Snowshoe Driving Program

Preferred Experience:
  • 2 years in a similar role
  • Ability to pass the National Ski Patrol Basic level ski patrol test
  • Dues and Fees: Pay annual dues to the national ski patrol to maintain Outdoor Emergency Care certificate. If applicable pay annual and semiannual fees associated with maintaining First Responder or EMT-P license. Pay annual fees for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation refresher class
  • Will have to ride with manager or supervisor to evaluate skills (skiing and biking)
  • Patroller must be an intermediate to advanced downhill mountain biker and advanced/expert level skier or snowboarder
  • Job Specific Background check
  • Maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Must complete the snowmobile and/or ATV (UTV) training course as well as be an approved driver on the Snowshoe Driving Program before operating a company
  • Annual snowmobile and ATV (UTV) training refresher
  • To have and wear full face helmet, forearm pads, knee/shin pads, gloves, goggles, and riding for downhill
  • General maintenance knowledge for downhill
  • Have annual ski binding safety tests
