TheFlight Communications & Trackingsection at JPL is seeking apostdocto conduct research on high-performance atomic and ion-based clocks. This role focuses on advancing experimental quantum optics techniques to support the design, construction, and operation of compact vacuum atomic clock systems. The position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge clock technology with applications for NASA and USSF missions.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct experimental research on atomic and ion-based clocks, including the design and operation of compact vacuum systems

  • Develop and implement precision measurement protocols to improve atomic clock performance

  • Collaborate with JPL scientists to integrate new clock technologies into ongoing mission campaigns

  • Document experimental procedures and maintain reproducible data and analysis records

  • Lead peer-reviewed publications and present research findings at scientific conferences

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Optics, or a related field

  • Strong experimental expertise in quantum optics, atomic, and ion-based clocks

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and operating compact vacuum systems

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

The appointee will carry out research in collaboration withJPL advisor,resulting in publications in the open literature.

Applicants may be subject toadditional program requirementsby NASA. Postdoc positions are awarded for a minimum of one-year period and may be renewed up to a maximum of three years.
