Join our team as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within our Utilities (Water/Wastewater) practice area.


This is a primarily hybrid/remote role; however, candidates must be willing and able to commute to one of our North Carolina offices on a regular basis to support team collaboration, project execution, and client needs.


In this role, you will develop, calibrate, and analyze hydraulic models for water distribution and wastewater collection systems while leading projects that support long-term infrastructure planning and system performance improvements. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, data-driven solutions that enhance system performance, reliability, and resiliency.


Candidates at the Project Manager level will lead hydraulic modeling tasks and manage project components, coordinating with internal teams and clients to ensure successful delivery. Those at the Senior Project Manager level will take on broader leadership responsibilities, including managing complex projects, guiding technical teams, supporting business development efforts, and building strong client relationships.


This position requires strong technical proficiency in hydraulic modeling software, demonstrated project management experience, and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and calibrate hydraulic models for water distribution and wastewater collection systems
  • Analyze hydraulic model results to evaluate system performance, identify deficiencies, and recommend improvement strategies
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate model data with broader infrastructure planning efforts
  • Support system evaluations for master plans, asset inventory assessments, capital improvement programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and presentations to clearly communicate findings and recommendations to clients and regulatory agencies
  • Assist with proposal development, scope definition, budgeting, and client coordination for modeling-related projects
  • Manage tasks, schedules, and deliverables across multiple active projects while ensuring technical quality and timeliness
  • (Senior Project Manager level) Lead large or complex projects, oversee project teams, and mentor engineers and project staff
  • (Senior Project Manager level) Strengthen client relationships and support business development activities, including strategic pursuits and proposal leadership

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Project Manager Level - 7+ years of engineering/industry experience with demonstrated team management experience
  • Senior Project Manager Level - 10+ years of engineering/industry experience with demonstrated team management experience
  • Self-motivated, engaged, and team-oriented with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
  • Strong leadership and project management skills as well as excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of contracts, accounting principles, including budgeting and forecasting
  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software, including WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, and PCSWM
  • Experience with ArcGIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Proven track record of fostering existing client relationships
  • Energetic, flexible, confident, and forward thinking
  • Experience with common statistical programming languages such as R or Python (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with wastewater process modeling software like BioWin (preferred but not required)
