Job description

THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT ATTEMPT TO LIST ALL OF THE DUTIES THAT ARE OR MAY BE PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION

Primary Duties
  • 1. Conducts injury and vehicle incident reviews to determine root cause and necessary corrective action required to eliminate future incidents.
  • 2. Provides guidance and direction for division employees and contractors to encourage workplace safety.
  • 3. Observes safety practices and conditions in field locations and recommends corrections or additional precautions to help protect employees from potentially unsafe work methods and to assure compliance.
  • 4. Assists in the development of and conducts safety training programs. Demonstrates the use of safety equipment and facilitates numerous tests; i.e. respirator fit, hearing loss, forklift and excavation.
  • 5. Participates in monthly safety team meetings and provides leadership training to safety team leaders to improve the effectiveness of the company's occupational safety and health efforts.
  • 6. Maintains accurate safety related records for reporting purposes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Educational/Experience Level Requires a Bachelor's Degree and two years of relevant experience in the safety field; or High school education or equivalent and six years of relevant experience in the safety field.
  • Communication Skills Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals.
  • Numeric Skills Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages and simple statistical methods.
  • Computer Skills Requires basic computer skills for data entry, reference and/or retrieval tasks. Preferred experience with Microsoft Office.
Work Conditions
  • Primary job responsibilities require work inside and outside an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
