Lead Teacher & Assistant Teacher Positions

Gabriel Park • Hawthorne | Full-time | Start: August 31, 2026


THE OPPORTUNITY

We're launching Preschool For All (free, high-quality preschool programs) at Gabriel Park and Hawthorne this August. We need passionate French-speaking educators to make it happen.


THE ROLES

We're hiring 2 complementary positions that work together. Both roles are 100% French immersion—with kids and among staff.

Lead Teacher (30–38 hrs/week)

  • Plan and deliver French immersion curriculum
  • Document each child's progress and growth
  • Mentor your assistant teacher
  • Own family partnerships and engagement
  • Curriculum planning time built into your week

Assistant Teacher / Aide (35–38 hrs/week)

  • Support daily routines and learning activities
  • Lead family communications and check-ins
  • Reflect on your own French immersion practice
  • Participate in classroom planning and PFA team goals

WHAT WE NEED

ORO Step: Lead Teacher = Step 7 minimum | Assistant Teacher = Step 5 minimum

Education: Lead Teacher = Associate+ in ECE + 1 yr exp (or Bachelor's/Master's) | Assistant Teacher = High school diploma + ECE coursework/experience preferred

French: Lead Teacher = Fluent French & English | Assistant Teacher = Fluent French (all child interactions)

Required Prior to Employment (Both Positions):

  • Oregon Food Handler's Card
  • Central Background Check Registry
  • Adult & Pediatric First Aid and CPR
  • Health & Safety, Abuse Recognition, Foundations for Learning, Safe Sleep trainings
  • Conscious Discipline (within 90 days)


WHAT YOU'LL GET

Compensation:

  • Lead Teachers: $23–$33/hour (based on experience & ORO Step)
  • Assistant Teachers / Aides: Starting $23.16/hour (based on experience & ORO Step)
