Position Summary
The Route Manager will supervise our roll-off and front-load drivers and dispatchers. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, hard-working, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals and groups. The Route manager will be able to work effectively with Microsoft Office Suite, handle multiple projects, and work well in a deadline-driven culture.
Work environment and expectations
The Route Manager will be expected to work independently and on a team. The RM will work from the Atlas Disposal Operations Facility in South Sacramento on a shift rotation with 2 other route managers. Shifts will start at 3 am, 5:30 am, and 7:30 am and shifts are typically 10 hours per day. Route managers will be asked to be on call on Saturdays once or twice per month or as needed.
This position will require the ability to stand and sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Duties and Responsibilities
§ Safety #1 Assist with and reinforce company safety programs and policies, and OSHA standards.
§ Supervise driver activities to ensure safety, productivity, and service standards are at Atlass high-performance level. Leading the team to exceed our customers expectations in all areas.
§ Review and approve timecard hours and productivity reports.
§ Maintain and review driver files, records, and reports to track performance.
§ Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and perform site checks.

Ensures that drivers comply with physicals and drug tests.

§ Conduct driver in-cab observations and follow drivers in the field.
§ Assist with investigations for any injuries or incidents.
§ Conduct coaching and disciplinary action for the team as needed.
§ Assist the dispatch team as needed.
§ Perform other duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications
§ Valid CDL with air brakes is required.
§ Experience in the transportation industry overseeing drivers.
§ Waste industry knowledge is a plus, but not required.
§ Excellent leadership skills.
§ Good written and verbal communication skills.
§ Proficient use of computers and typing skills.
§ Thorough knowledge of company rules, policies, and procedures.
§ Customer service experience.
§ Ability to motivate and coach a team for performance.
§ Organized with high attention to detail.
§ Ability to work alone and with a team.
