Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position
The Atkins laboratory in the department of Biological Sciences is seeking a research assistant for immediate start. The Atkins laboratory performs basic research to address questions of developmental the research assistant will be expected to work 10-15 hours per week to maintain laboratory Drosophila stocks, make Drosophila media, organize and maintain inventory, ensure proper laboratory procedures are enforced and communicate any issues regularly with Dr. Atkins. May be required to perform crosses to rescue sick stocks or rebalance lines as a lab resource. May be requested to perform maintain reagents, make stock solutions, perform control experiments or test reagents as requested by supervisor.
Other Requirements for the Position
CITI Biosafety certification is required. Drosophila husbandry, microscopy, and molecular biology experience is preferred.
