Job description

St. Norbert College, a nationally ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college, is seeking a Director of Student-Athlete Experience/Assistant Coach - Women's Ice Hockey. This position is responsible for coaching duties assigned by the head women's ice hockey coach and administrative duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Specific responsibilities:
  • Instruct and work with student athletes to prepare them for competition. Help athletes enhance athletic performance individually or as a team unit. Understand the rules, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Teach student-athletes how to use sports equipment efficiently and safely. Organize and conduct practice sessions throughout the day as needed.
  • Provide oversight for student-athlete development including student-athlete advisory committee and student-athlete programming. Collaborate with campus and external partners to develop programming that supports the whole person development of St. Norbert College student-athletes while also meeting NCAA and campus policies. Serve as the department lead for Title IX.
  • Manage the recruiting process for the women's ice hockey program from initial prospect contact through enrollment, and oversee the operation and administration of scouting and game management software systems.
  • Provide event management at home athletic contests as SNC athletic administrator.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director on NCAA compliance, monitor student-athlete academic progress, and support Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervision Exercised Over:
  • 10-15 students

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Administration or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of successful coaching experience.
  • 1-3 years of related administrative experience in sport management and student-athlete development.
  • Experience in supervising and leading the growth of staff.
  • Strong ability to recruit student-athletes in the context of NCAA Division III philosophy.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle conflict and resolve customer service issues professionally.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and successfully execute events, programs, and projects.
  • Ability to effectively present information to small groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Workday, and other computer applications, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies as needed.
  • Ability to maintain focus and concentration in a busy or noisy environment and serve as a positive example to others.
