What are Montessori teachers?

Montessori teachers are educators trained in the Montessori method, an educational approach developed by Dr. Maria Montessori that emphasizes independence, hands-on learning, and respect for a child’s natural psychological development. Unlike traditional teachers, Montessori teachers act as guides or facilitators, preparing the learning environment and observing each child's interests and progress. They encourage children to explore materials at their own pace, fostering self-motivation, concentration, and a love of learning. Montessori teachers often work with mixed-age groups and focus on individualized instruction rather than whole-class teaching.
