Job Title: House Manager & Family Assistant
Location: Seattle, WA 98119
Employment Type: Part-time (20 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, flexible between the hours of 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Compensation: $35-$45/hour based on experience
Start Date: ASAP
Requirements:
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Reliable transportation with mileage reimbursement for work related tasks
  • Vaccinations preferred Covid + flu
About Our Family:
We are an on-the-go, dynamic family in a very full season of life, seeking a reliable and highly organized House Manager & Family Assistant to help bring ease, structure, and calm to our day-to-day home life. With both parents working full-time in demanding roles and two young children in daycare/preschool, our days move quickly-from early mornings out the door to full evenings at home-leaving limited time for the ongoing needs of running a household.
We value a home that feels calm, organized, and efficient, but the day-to-day tasks-laundry, tidying, errands, meal prep, and the many small but important details-can quickly stack up. Like many families in this stage, we're balancing a constant mental load while also wanting to be present and truly enjoy time together. We have two young children and a cat, and we value a private, low-profile home environment rooted in trust, clear communication, and a strong sense of order and ease.
At the heart of it, we're looking to create more breathing room in our home-less rushing, less stress around the "to-do," and more space to feel grounded and connected as a family. We're seeking someone experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented who can seamlessly integrate into our home during school and work hours-someone who can anticipate needs, take ownership of household operations, and bring consistency, flow, and thoughtful systems so our home runs smoothly and with intention.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For:
We are seeking a self-sufficient, independent, and highly organized individual who can seamlessly step into our home and manage tasks without needing direction. This person thrives on autonomy and has a proactive mindset, always one step ahead in keeping the household running smoothly. They take pride in leaving the house better than they found it, whether it's managing errands, resetting rooms, or organizing spaces. The approach is discreet and professional, respecting the family's privacy and maintaining a low profile.
While your main focus will be household management, we are looking for someone who can assist with the children as needed, particularly during occasional gaps in childcare or when shuttling to summer camps. You are someone who takes initiative, is highly detail-oriented, and can keep everything in order without constant supervision. You'll be the quiet force behind a well-run home-our "magic fairy godmother"- who leaves everything organized, tidy, and in its place, allowing us to focus on what matters most. The ideal candidate will be a true self-starter, reliable, and able to anticipate needs before they arise. With your ability to handle various tasks independently, you will help alleviate the mental load of the family and ensure the house stays in top shape.
Key Responsibilities:
Household Management & Organization
  • Maintain organization systems for closets, pantry, and toys
  • Reset and tidy rooms daily; ensure the home is prepped for cleaning services
  • Oversee household schedules and calendars, including family and vendor coordination
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, bedding, etc.)
  • Prep for kids classroom holidays (Valentines, Halloween etc)
  • Support packing/unpacking for travel or seasonal transitions
  • Supervise or coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g., cleaners, landscapers)
  • Light cleaning: loading/unloading dishwasher, wiping surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas
Inventory Management & Errands
  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
  • Manage grocery shopping and household orders (Amazon, Costco, etc.)
  • Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, and dry cleaning
  • Handle package pickup and mail sorting
Meal Support
  • Assist with snack prep and meal prep as needed (fruits, vegetables, batch cooking)
  • Align with family preferences for meal planning
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized after meal prep
Laundry & Linen Care
  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry, including bedding and towels
  • Rotate bedding and linens on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring laundry areas are tidy
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
Pet Care
  • Schedule and coordinate vet, grooming, and or daycare appointments
  • Keep pet supplies stocked and organized
Vehicle Management
  • Coordinate vehicle detailing and ensure the family vehicle is clean and organized
  • Track maintenance, oil changes, and vehicle service schedules
Vendor & Property Oversight
  • Oversee service providers and vendors as needed
  • Research and coordinate household repairs, maintenance, and quotes
  • Manage outdoor spaces and seasonal maintenance needs
  • Serve as the primary contact for vendors
Family Support & Child Assistance
  • Assist with occasional childcare during school closures, provide gap care, occasional pick up or drop off as needed.
  • Prepare backpacks, snacks, and essentials for the kids, make sure kids cubbies have all the snacks and diapers
  • Light supervision, playtime, or back-up childcare - comfortable with kids
  • Help with child-related laundry or errands
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
  • Tackle occasional deep cleaning projects (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, garage, mudroom)
  • Clean humidifiers, washing machines, and air purifiers monthly
  • Organize special projects like toy storage, seasonal decorations, and gear rotation
