Job description

Description DSHS FTAA - Truck Driver 2 We are hiring a Truck Driver in Buckley, WA within the Finance, Technology, and Analytics Administration (FTAA) - Maintenance and Operations Division (MOD). In this role, the incumbent operates medium to large heavy-duty trucks, construction equipment, forklifts and wheelchair lift vehicles, minor equipment preventative maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections. Operates snowplow and sand spreader for snow/ice removal and road maintenance.

Provides administrative and technical support to supervisors and staff members. Creates correspondence, compiling various reports and data-specifically maintaining departmental databases and office records. This position may require a valid Class A or B CDL license and may be subject to drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance with Federal, State, and DSHS Administrative Policy No.

18.75 Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace policy, applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Shift: Friday-Tuesday 9:30AM-6:30PM. Some of what you'll do: Operates backhoe, grader and other construction equipment as needed

Operates wheelchair accessible buses to transport clients. Operates snowplow and sand spreader for snow removal and road maintenance. Operates forklifts to deliver supplies as needed.

Performs minor equipment and vehicle preventative maintenance, repairs and safety inspections. Operates fuel station dispensing both gasoline and diesel and prepares reports reconciling daily fuel usage. Provides administrative and technical support to supervisors and staff members.

Duties also include answering phone calls and emails, coordinating office operations and procuring department supplies. Position also creates correspondence, compiling various reports and data-specifically maintaining department databases and office records. Drafts correspondence, statistical memoranda and reports; assembles and summarizes information and data for use by the supervisor.

What we're looking for: Knowledge of federal, state, county, and city regulations for safe vehicle and equipment operation. Ability to safely transport passengers and load/unload equipment on and off docks. Strong communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with management, peers, clients, and the public.

Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs., and perform frequent bending and twisting. Strength and agility to handle tools, machinery, and various materials. Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and perform heavy outdoor work in varying conditions

Who should apply. This position may require a valid Class A or B CDL license with Air Brake endorsement. This position requires at least one year's experience working as a Truck Driver 1 or equivalent education/experience.

Must be able to operate heavy equipment to effectively remove snow/ice during inclement weather and assist in road maintenance. Additional information: Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs.
