How much do asynchronous jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 14, 2026, the average hourly pay for asynchronous in Denver, CO is $15.74, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $10.62 and $17.84 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an asynchronous software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Asynchronous Software Engineer, you need a solid understanding of concurrent programming, event-driven architectures, and computer science fundamentals, typically backed by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with technical tools such as Node.js, Python's asyncio, message queues, and distributed systems is essential, along with experience using version control systems like Git. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating across teams and debugging complex asynchronous code. These capabilities enable reliable, scalable software solutions and ensure efficient development in environments that rely on non-blocking operations.

What is an asynchronous job?

An asynchronous job is a task or process that runs independently of the main program flow, allowing the system to continue executing other tasks without waiting for completion. This approach is commonly used in programming, networking, and distributed systems to improve efficiency and responsiveness. Asynchronous jobs are often handled through callbacks, promises, or background processing, depending on the technology being used.

How do professionals in asynchronous roles effectively manage communication and collaboration across different time zones?

Professionals working in asynchronous roles often collaborate with colleagues or clients in various time zones, which makes clear and organized communication essential. To manage this, they rely heavily on written updates, shared documentation, and project management tools to ensure everyone stays informed and aligned. Setting expectations around response times and using overlapping hours for critical discussions can help minimize misunderstandings. Additionally, maintaining detailed records of decisions and progress helps keep the team coordinated, even when direct interaction is limited.

What is the difference between Asynchronous vs Synchronous Developer?

AspectAsynchronous DeveloperSynchronous Developer
Work StyleHandles multiple tasks concurrently, non-blocking operationsExecutes tasks sequentially, blocking until completion
CommunicationOften works independently, with event-driven communicationRequires immediate, step-by-step collaboration
Common UsageWeb development, APIs, real-time applicationsDesktop apps, traditional software processes

Asynchronous developers focus on non-blocking, concurrent operations, ideal for real-time and scalable applications. Synchronous developers work sequentially, suitable for tasks requiring step-by-step processing. Understanding these differences helps employers and developers choose the right approach for their projects.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Front-End Software Developer who will be supporting the development of highly visible, mission-critical cloud-native applications that provide advanced Situational Awareness and Collaboration capabilities. This role focuses on building modern, responsive, and data-rich user interfaces that consume real-time information from distributed backend systems. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript development, experience building sophisticated front-end applications, and a strong understanding of how front-end systems interact with microservices, streaming platforms, and cloud-native architectures. You will work closely with backend engineers, architects, and mission stakeholders to build intuitive applications capable of processing and displaying large volumes of information in near real-time. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency patterns, API integration, and modern front-end development practices. We use Svelte as its primary front-end framework. Prior Svelte experience is highly desired but not required for candidates with strong modern JavaScript framework expertise and a willingness to learn. Key Responsibilities
โ€ข Design, develop, and maintain modern cloud-native front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, and contemporary web technologies.
โ€ข Build highly intuitive user experiences that support mission-critical situational awareness and collaboration workflows.
โ€ข Develop efficient client-side applications capable of handling large data sets, concurrent requests, and near real-time information updates.
โ€ข Integrate front-end applications with RESTful APIs, WebSocket services, and distributed backend systems.
โ€ข Collaborate closely with backend engineers to consume services and leverage event-driven architectures, including Kafka-based data streams.
โ€ข Implement performant asynchronous data loading strategies utilizing promises, concurrency patterns, and modern browser capabilities.
โ€ข Optimize application performance, responsiveness, and scalability across multiple operating environments.
โ€ข Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
โ€ข Conduct code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
โ€ข Mentor junior developers and contribute to the overall growth of the engineering team.
โ€ข Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications
โ€ข Minimum of 7 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on front-end engineering.
โ€ข Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript.
โ€ข Experience developing and deploying applications within Linux-based environments.
โ€ข Strong experience building modern web applications and user interfaces.
โ€ข Experience consuming and integrating RESTful web services and APIs.
โ€ข Strong understanding of asynchronous programming concepts, including Promises, async/await patterns, concurrency, and parallel data processing.
โ€ข Experience building applications that support near real-time data delivery and dynamic user experiences.
โ€ข Understanding of distributed systems and how front-end applications interact with microservices architectures.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts and mentor junior engineers.
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; or graduation from an accredited coding bootcamp with equivalent experience.
โ€ข Must possess or be willing to obtain a CompTIA Security+ certification. Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Experience with Svelte or other modern front-end frameworks.
โ€ข Experience developing applications utilizing WebSockets and real-time communication technologies.
โ€ข Familiarity with Kafka and event-driven architectures, including consuming and visualizing data originating from streaming platforms.
โ€ข Experience supporting highly concurrent applications with complex data-loading requirements.
โ€ข Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native deployment environments.
โ€ข Experience delivering mission-critical applications within government, defense, intelligence, or other secure environments.
โ€ข Experience designing front-end architectures for highly available and scalable systems.
โ€ข Security+ certification. Clearance Level: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
โ€ข Position requires eligibility to access classified information and secure government facilities in support of program requirements.
