Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Facilities Secretary to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA in Fort Irwin.

The Deep Space Network is NASA's international array of giant radio antennas supporting interplanetary spacecraft missions, Earth-orbiting missions, and radio astronomy observations that expand our understanding of the solar system and universe. The DSN serves as the critical communications link between Earth and spacecraft exploring beyond the moon, enabling command operations and the receipt of scientific data and imagery from deep space.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, this position performs a wide range of administrative and operational support duties for the Facilities Department and Complex Manager. The role requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to support both routine office operations and high-visibility customer activities.

Responsibilities include:

    Perform daily administrative support tasks including filing, record maintenance, data entry, copying, mail distribution, supply inventory, and general office coordination using computer-based systems.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and MS Teams to prepare documents, manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate video teleconferences (VTCs).
  • Support front office operations by greeting visitors, answering and directing calls, taking messages, and assisting employees, customers, and visitors including NASA, JPL, and bargaining unit personnel.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail and package distribution while maintaining office supply levels and supporting general office equipment operations.
  • Support Facilities Work Order Desk operations by receiving service requests, gathering issue details, routing information appropriately, and entering/updating work orders within the Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist with Maximo work order quality assurance, metrics tracking, and coordination with database analysts to maintain data integrity.
  • Maintain department calendars and assist with meeting coordination, conference room setup, agendas, presentations, and related logistics.
  • Support department websites, customer meetings, VIP tours, and NASA audits, including coordination of conference spaces, visitor accommodations, parking arrangements, presentation setup, and event preparation activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience and High School Diploma/GED or 2 years with Associate degree.
  • Familiarity with Maximo Computer based Maintenance Management System.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft products.
  • Must possess and retain a valid California driver's license. (Real-ID)
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions and procedures without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Ability to undergo a trusted background check and pass a National Criminal Information Check (NCIC). In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.

The rate / range per hour below represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
