Overview
Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Mobile Radio System Administrator to support a major national laboratory.
The successful candidate will typically oversee scope, cost, and schedule of a project; working on large projects or a significant segment of large and complex projects. Analyze new and complex project-related problems and create innovative solutions that normally involve the schedule, technology, methodology, tools, solution components, and financial management of the project. Provide applications systems analysis and long and short-range plans for application selection, systems development, systems maintenance, and production activities for necessary support resources. Commensurate experience and education for the specific level.
Responsibilities
  • The Radio Systems Administrator / Communications Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance, support, and deployment of Motorola two-way radio systems supporting Department of Energy operations.
  • Performs both system administration and field service activities to ensure reliable, secure, and mission-critical communications.
  • Responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining radio infrastructure and subscriber equipment, while supporting interoperability between radio systems and associated communications technologies.
  • Manages customer service tickets, participates in communications projects, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and provides technical support for system upgrades and operational issues.
  • Additionally, this position works directly with customers to evaluate equipment needs, prepare equipment quotations and cost estimates, coordinate procurement activities, and ensure timely delivery of communications solutions.
  • Maintains system documentation, complies with Department of Energy policies and applicable regulatory requirements, and collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and customers to support ongoing operations and future communications initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus a minimum of 1 year, or more, of directly related experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties. Related experience may be substituted for relevant education and vice versa.
  • Ability to obtain & maintain a U.S. Dept. of Energy Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Required Skills:
  • RF & Radio Systems: knowledge of transmitters, receivers, antenna networks, and Land Mobile Radio (LMR) or P25/ASTRO 25 systems.
  • IP Networking: Ability to configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, LAN/WAN setups, and cabling.
  • Hardware & Diagnostics: skill in using test equipment (multimeters, spectrum analyzers) and proprietary programming software
  • Electromechanical Basics: Understanding of basic electrical circuits, mechanical principles, PLCs, pneumatics, and preventative upkeep for factory or filed equipment
  • Programming and Alignment: Motorola radio programming software for various radio and the use of service monitors for the preventative maintenance program.
